The Shoe Thrower Story.
I have been trying to get a hold of the so-called Shoe Thrower for years. Muntazer al-Zaidi, the Iraqi Journalist who threw a shoe at President Bush Jr. in 2008. Sending a message to Bush, “This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, you dog,” yelled al-Zaidi in Arabic as he threw his first shoe towards Bush. “This is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq,” he shouted as he threw his second shoe. Bush ducked twice to avoid being hit by the shoes.” I Finally talked to him and had a friendly, insightful conversation . He has been busy organizing and protesting against corruption and injustice in Tahrir Square in Baghdad. On August 11, as he was resting from protesting at his house, I tweeted to him that if we could talk just for a few minutes; he agreed., We Zoomed for almost an hour, he was thoughtful, personal and in a very good mood.
