The Visit

The Visit
I visit Egypt my birthplace every year, and when I do I usually stay with my sister who lives alone in her apartment on the 5th floor in the heart of Cairo, a city of 18 million people and more than 30 thousands Mosques and as many cafes. My sister is a religious person, she quietly prays the five mandatory daily prayers but never demands of me to join her, never breaches her religious devotion, she was just a sister who was enjoying her afar brother visit. Every morning I wake up on the smell of her signature breakfast that she prepares for me before she leaves for work ; breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, it brings the old diversity of Egyptian culture on a plate; foul mudames (feva beans) , honey, black olive, feta cheese and fresh bread, all mixed with the voice of sheikh Abd El Baset reciting the Quraan from her radio. After I finish my breakfast, I get up change the radio station to listen to Arab diva Um Kalthum. We never discussed our listening ritual, everyone quietly changes the radio station when the other is gone. Growing up in Egypt I wasn’t close to my sister, she was the only daughter out of seven sons, she was my dad favorite and I somehow resented that. I couldn’t’ as a child accept the deferential treatment. My sister left the family earlier to study away in Cairo. After all these years my visit to Egypt got me closer to her, we wear hungry to get to know each other, and catch up on all the things that we had missed growing up , we didn’t get a chance to get intimate with any, having 7 siblings, we were self-raised and self-taught, everyone was running around consumed by keeping alive. My sister and I now, enjoy this rare chance of being together alone, we talk about anything and everything, her being a women, a wife, and an executive in a big bank, a widow and a cancer survival. She asks me about Bush and Obama; and I ask her about Bin Laden and Mubarak. She is interested in American women and American culture, she loves the work ethic of the American people and their directness. I enjoy my visit and my sister conversation as I have never before, I saw in her things I never seen before, thoughtfulness, kindness and confidence hard to see in traditional Muslim woman. I saw her private life, without any social hijjap, after all these years she still a beautiful attractive woman, enveloped in modesty, intelligent and curious about the world around her. What was so amazing to me about my sister, her sense of humor, and her infectious laugh, that wasn’t apparent or seen in public. Every time I ask my sister what you need from America, she always says “Salamtik” … your safety!!

Mark my words …

The problem in this country as I see it, is this; there are too many talks shows and politicians. Talk show host especially radio talk show in the south, they are the real terrorist, that is why I never drove south to the heartland, they scary millions every day, 24/7, they are worst than suicide bombers, they are the suicide pilots. Mr. Chomsky explained their daily venomous propaganda as What is happening to me? I have done all the right things. I am a God-fearing Christian. I work hard for my family. I have a gun. I believe in the values of the country and my life is collapsing. Politicians and our two parties system are nothing but a stage for hypocrisy and undercover agents for corporate America. . There was the word, then god has spoken no more. The more species speak the more troubles and violence in the universe. The less animated spoken species are living in peace and harmony for millions of years; mountains, trees, and animals. We need new life amendments, we need serious interference, people should not just talk because they can, we need not to walk the talk but talk the walk! Hitler controlled the mind of Millions by his mastery of the words, I understand that images are now replacing words in our visual and digital age, however, images affects our emotions, but words control the mind, besides we can always close your eyes, but we can’t close our hearing. So here is my last word on this; everyone should be given at birth with his name a fix number of words in their lives, once they use them all they die; our life expire, taken off the shelf and put away like a rotten apple, isn’t apple what got us in trouble in the first place; written language, twittering and texting is included, and LOL is considered three words, so it would disappear from our lexicon, we will live in a lees noise world, les wordy world, and forced to think before we speak, and people will be very quiet in their old ages!! talk show hosts, (including me) will die earlier!! and Politicians and Arab leaders won’t stay in power for 30 years, end of the story!! Mark my words and mark my grave too!!

A wish before I die

Please god let me see before the reckoning, an ex Arab president as a citizen

Just to see what would he do without the police ,,, Yahoo.

What places he would go, food he would eat, would he walk on his feet,

What clothe he would wears, would he still dye his hair,

Friends he would keep, and start thinking deep,

Car he would drive; no Toyota plz we want him alive,

Would he stand in line, passing gas would be fine,

Would he pay his parking tickets, and still play his game of cricket, …

Yeah … fuck it!! I don’t get it!

Where do we have to go to see … an Arab ex-president be

This is my wish my friend… as been said blowing in the wind!

… I don’t really know … so now I have to go..
