TweetSince we first began our polling on American attitudes toward Arabs and Muslims in 2010, there has been continued erosion in the favorable ratings given to both communities, posing a threat to the rights of Arab Americans and American Muslims. Favorable attitudes have continued to decline – from 43% in 2010 to 32% in 2014 for Arabs; and from 35% in 2010 to 27% in 2014 for Muslims. Tweet Daayiee Abdullah is a gay Muslim who has been fighting against discrimination and hatred towards homosexuals and Muslims alike.[1] Through a group called the Al-Fatiha Foundation, Abdullah has been active in this campaign, and has even been perceived by many as being at the front of this campaign.[2] Although there is much controversy, Abdullah has helped to raise awareness of the oppression of homosexuals in Islam, and is also viewed by many as a symbol of hope and evidence[peacock term] that one can be both gay and Muslim.[
