  1. I just finished reading your editorial posted in today’s Star Tribune “Shouting Fire in the Global Theater” and I had a few thoughts.

First off, let me say that I very much enjoy “Belehdan”. It’s one of the more thoughtful, informative, and important programs that I regularly watch on TV. It challenges me and informs me every time I catch it.

But back to today’s editorial. I have two points. First, I don’t think it is a fair comparison to equate attacks on US embassies in the Muslim world to attacks on mosques on US soil. Both are reprehensible – but attacks on US mosques have (I think) always been the work of one or a few idiotic wingnuts. The vast majority of non-Muslim US citizens condemn this kind of behavior and would not take part in it. The perpetrators are criminals who, hopefully, are successfully captured and brought to justice.

Attacks on US embassies, however, are the result of hundreds, sometimes thousands of people coming together en masse to participate in a concerted display of destructive behavior. I can think of no parallel on American soil, in terms of a destructive event aimed at Muslims by the non-Muslim public. In fact, I can’t even imagine such a scenario. So there is a basic behavioral difference that is hard for me to understand.

Secondly, (and I’m asking this because I honestly am confused and would like clarification), I consistently see what looks to me to be a deification of the Prophet by Muslims. The outrage which is generated whenever the Prophet is slandered seems to not fit at all with his status as a human mortal. I understand that he is incredibly important to Islam, the central human figure. But still, he was a mortal and not God. He, at least as I see it, is not the one who should be worshipped. And this raising of the Prophet onto a pedestal seems absolutely antithetical to basic Muslim teachings that there is only one God. I’m very confused about what looks to be a regularly occurring and glaring contradiction. Perhaps you have written about this or covered the topic at some time on Belehdan, and I’ve just missed it. If not, I think it would be an interesting topic to explore.

All for now. Thanks again for your thoughtful commentary and very interesting TV show.

  2. Comment on error in Strib article “Survey of…” 1/14/14
Paragraph 2: “Lebanon is not a Muslim country.”
According to the 2014 “The World Almanac” the current population is composed of 60% Muslims and 39% Christians. The country’s Parliament by law is allotted as follows: 64 Muslim members and 64 Christian members.
The Constitution also required that the President be a Maronite Christian, the Speaker of the Parliament be a Shi’a Muslim, and the Prime Minister a Sunni Muslim.
I found your survey and article very interesting.

    1. Ha Ha Ha – copied and recopied stories stolen from other nenribougihg cultures. Not to mention the ones that ended up on the cutting room floor. OT was a fake history to give the Hebrews a way to be different from their fellow Canaanites. NT was written over 100 years after supposed events, not one eyewitness. As real as Robin Hood.

  6. Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That’s right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin

  8. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
